DISCLAIMER
There’s an outside chance someone may happen across this blog. Not likely, but not impossible.
WE ARE NOT ASSOCIATED IN ANY WAY WITH THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE
We will be writing extensively about the Petersburg campaign and the associated field fortifications. Part of the field fortifications are within the Richmond National Battlefield Park, part within the Petersburg National battlefield and part within the jurisdiction of the State of Virginia, various cities and counties.
The historians, interpreters and rangers of the National Park Service and the State, City and County employees responsible for preserving our Civil War assets are the real pros. We would never expect them to endorse or even acknowledge anything we do or write. From time-to-time, many have returned our phone calls or answered our e-mails. We are more than thankful for the time and attention.
The same is absolutely true for the Civil War Fortification Study Group. We were allowed to join the group and hope to tag along on future field trips. Make no mistake – we are a tag along – tolerated, thankfully, by gentlemen who know what they’re talking about. Not just talking, like me.
